The Book

Half written on a Jamaican shore. Half written at a cold window.

The first half of this book was written across a lifetime of return visits home, where the golden beaches and crystal blue water did the work of remembering. The second half was written from a frosty window in America, recalling the wintry moments that catapulted a boy into manhood.

His story digs deep into the recesses of his being and recalls his fight to maintain his sense of self and identity.

About the Author

Gilbert S. Bent

Gilbert Stephen Bent Jr. hails from the tropics on the golden island of Jamaica, where he spent his early teen years. By his mid-teens he migrated to the United States with his family. He holds a bachelor's degree in management and finance and is a successful businessman. He is a family man and a father, and he writes from the particular vantage point of a man of Caribbean and African descent who had to build his own definition of what a man is supposed to be. Boy, Men Don't Cry is his account of the struggles, hardships, perseverance, and successes that made him the man he is today.
